Summer is finally here, though it seemed like it’s a rainy summer but hey! I’ll take it coz I’m so over the cold months.

Anyway, without further adieu let’s dive in and see what I got in my Play! by Sephora box for the month of June!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

I don’t think I’ve own any lip products from Kat Von D, though I’ve been wanting to try their liquid lipstick since forever. I’ve heard so many positive and negative feedbacks about their liquid lipsticks so finally, I can now share my own thoughts about it too.

I received the shade K-Dub – (bold fuchsia) and I love me some bold lips during the summer months. This liquid lipstick is very easy to apply, really smooth and feels like nothing on the lips. It dries down matte which I love and it does have a VERY mild scent but you really have to try hard to smell it (I guess it’s a good thing right?).

Surprisingly, this Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick is super pigmented, definitely opaque, long lasting (I even thought it’s waterproof), almost transfer proof and it didn’t dry my lips out which is great!

tarte Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen

To be honest, I am not a huge fan of tinted moisturizer but I do like SPF/sunscreen. However, this tarteguard tinted moisturizer is really good. I find it similar to a BB Cream, very light coverage but buildable. I’ve used this moisturizer on some lazy days and it’s really comfortable on my skin. It does not hide my imperfections but it’s OK, it looks very natural when applied. It provides just the right amount of luminous glow.

This tarte Tarteguard 20 Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin. I also received the shade Natural/Light but since I have a little bit of tan, it could have been perfect if this was in the shade Light-Medium to match my skin perfectly.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Gradual Glow Pad Self-Tanner for Face

Ahhmm.. I just want to be honest, I don’t self-tan so I didn’t try it. I will give this to someone who does.

Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave–In Defining Crème

I have a combination of straight and wavy hair, it depends on the hair products that I use. Sometimes my hair stays wavy and sometimes it’s just really tamed and straight. This Briogeo Curl Charisma Rice Amino + Avocado Leave–In Defining Crème is not a stranger to me. I’ve used this before and I did like it. I also like the smell, the texture and it doesn’t feel greasy on my hair. It holds the curl but feels soft at the same time.

I also admire that this product is

Bonus Fragrance

DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Blackout

I love mens perfume or cologne and this Derek Lam 10 Crosby Blackout Eau de Parfum is almost a combination of both feminine and masculine scent. I sometimes use my husbands cologne and I enjoyed it.

This perfume however, is not my favorite. The scent is a little bit strong and it reminds me of a cologne or perfume that old men would wear (I’m not saying that they smell bad) but it’s just a scent that reminds me of old people (eeekk).

The smell stayed on my skin really well, that no matter how hard I tried to wash it off, it just won’t come off. I had to take a shower and wash my body entirely because the smell is just awful. My husband didn’t like nor did I.

It’s very difficult for me to describe the scent but one thing is for sure, this lasted on my skin and clothes for a very long time. The reviews on the Sephora site were mostly positive but hey! we all have our own preferences right?

Let me share the description below and hopefully this will give you some idea of what the smell is like.

Fragrance Family:
Earthy & Woody

Scent Type:
Fresh Woods

Key Notes:
Osmanthus, Chai Tea Essence

About:
A blackout on Crosby Street. Downtown has gone dark. Tonight, all bets are off. A deeply romantic pairing: complex osmanthus and chai tea essence…the sweetness of the flower with the passion and danger of the spicy chai tea.

“There are so many great moments when I see a girl walking down the street and she’s super stylish and very inspiring. Crosby Street is so unique—it’s one of my favorite in New York City.”—Derek Lam

  1. Sounds like a great mix. I don’t fake tan either so wouldn’t use that but I think everything else in the box sounds good. It is a bit annoying when these things insist on adding fake tan in there through the summer, and half the time they seem to be such small samples you can only do half a leg.

Hahahahah so true! Half-tan.. and yes everything else are great and the perfume is disappointing but it didn’t bother me coz it’s just a bonus item anyway.

  2. I got the exact same things you did. I don’t self-tan either so I’m giving mine away as well. The tinted moisturizer I wanted to try so bad, but it’s way too light for me. It’s lighter than my lightest foundation too. *sigh*
