Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

Brand Focus_Fotor

I have been wanting to try Garnier’s Micellar Water for awhile now but I am scared to switch from my favorite Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes due to having such a sensitive skin.

I finally gave up and purchased Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water. I’ve read a lot of positive reviews on this Micellar Cleansing Water so I thought why not?

There are two cleansing waters to choose from.

I chose Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water (blue cap) instead of the pink one. For some reason, I thought that the blue cap is more advanced than the other (that’s just me thinking that way).

Pink cap: – 100% Micellar Water – Glycerin for hydration

Blue cap: – Bi-phase technology (85% Micellar Water/15% added makeup remover ingredients to remove stubborn long wear makeup)

After the bottle was shaken, this is what the product looked like

Ok, how do you even describe a micellar water? It’s clear (just like water), wet and cool (not unless it’s placed under the heat which is not recommended “obviously”). The cap is pretty safe for travel as it seals really tightly to avoid water spills. The bottle is plastic and clear with back label for information guide.

I know that this product does not contain oil or alcohol but when applying this micellar cleansing water, it felt like it did have oil content. It was not comfortable on the skin, it felt a little sticky, warm and does not feel fresh at all. I had to use multiple cotton pads until my makeup is completely gone.

This micellar cleansing water is Dermatologist tested however, it irritated my skin badly. My skin felt dry the next morning (instead of feeling nourished as what they claimed it to be) it was really sensitive when touched and some redness all over. I haven’t had an allergic reaction like this for a long time so I didn’t even attempt on giving this a second chance, especially after having this unacceptable result.

Photo taken the next morning when I woke up

I don’t know how else to explain my experience with this Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water but all in all, I was very disappointed. I thought maybe the cotton pads caused my skin irritation? but I’ve used those pads before with the Simple Micellar Cleansing Water and I’ve never had this reaction. Or perhaps, it’s the makeup remover ingredients that irritated my skin? What do you think?

I will try to return or exchange this with the other Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water (pink cap) which does not contain makeup remover and see if that works better. But only when my skin is back to normal.

Have you guys tried this specific Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water

Do you like it?

I think this is good for those who doesn’t have sensitive skin like me. I might try the other kind soon and see if that works better than this. Thanks for dropping by!😍

  1. Oh too bad the blue cap one didn’t work for you! You might be allergic to the silicone. The dual phase stuff is made of silicone. I hope the pink cap one works for you – I bought that one, but have yet to try. People seem to love that version.

I used the pink one and my skin was burning and dry straight away. I used it for a second day and felt like my skin was almost suffering chemical burn. It felt tight and stung instantly. I’ve only used it for two days and will be returning it tomorrow. I’m really disappointed because I’ve used the clean sensitive cleanser from Garnier ( the blue one with dual layers) and never had an issue. I wouldn’t recommend the pink one at all if you have even slightly sensitive skin.

  2. I hope the pink topped bottle will be better for you. Micellar water should really be just that, water. The bi-phase one (which I have and use) is pretty much false advertising. One of the ingredients in it is also used in no-rinse makeup brush cleaner. I’m pretty sure that’s what caused the reaction. Sometimes the hype with (some) micellar water shouldn’t always be believed.

I agree!!! I love the Simple Micellar Wipes and that’s my holy grail but since I ran out of it and saw this Garnier one, thought I’d give it a try. I guess that’s it! I tried and now I know.. Haha will see if the Pink top is better.😊

Just came across your blog as I was trying to find somewhere to report my bad experience with Garnier Micellar Water. I just wanted you to know, both myself and many other people have had severe reactions to this micellar water too and wrote about their negative experiences on the Internet. I tried the pink one recently and ended up at the doctors, where I was diagnosed as having a ‘severe allergic reaction’ resulting in ‘perioral dermatitis’ (those little spots which can get very nasty, even turning into horrid painful pustules and a prickly red rash, as in my unfortunate case)! In Asian skin it causes hyper-pigmentation as well as hyper-sensitivity which can take months to correct. My skin is fair and my reaction was an ongoing thing, getting progressively worse, until I realised what was causing it. I’ve never been allergic to any cosmetic before and so this was a first for me. The state of my skin resulted in my not wanting to go out, my face was so spotty, sore, dry, red and blotchy!! My doctor told me to avoid all Micellar products in future, including the wipes. I am still trying to heal six weeks on and it’s been an horrendous experience!
Just wanted to warn you and commiserate. Xx

Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry to hear that. and yes, as soon as I got the bad reaction I never used it again. I’ve been lucky that the Simple Micellar Wipes are very gentle on my skin and never had issues with it whatsoever. I hope your skin will recover soon and I wish you the best. Thank you for sharing your experience, it’s good to hear other people’s thoughts as well. This will definitely warn others to be very cautious with the products that we use. Hope you feel better soon! ❤

Exact same situation here! I was just bouncing around online looking for people who have had the same experience with this product and there are SO MANY of us! I used the pink bottle for two days in a row after running out of Simple micellar, and now I have a chemical burn, blisters, bumpy, red, swollen face. My eyes are currently so swollen that it looks like I’ve been punched in the eyes. I’m going to try and figure out which ingredient I’m reacting to, but man, this is the worst!

oh wow! isn’t crazy? I wonder if this was brought to their attention. I used to LOVE Simple Micellar water but since I discovered the Simple Micellar wipes, I haven’t purchased the water since then. They work the same but since I’m lazy, I love the wipes more than the water. 🙂

STAY AWAY FROM THE PINK BOTTLE OF MICELLAR – I have a horrible skin allergy and it is day 22 now my skin has gone crazy and pink with rashes, bumps, swelling and hyper dryness. I had a very glowing healthy skin and now I have no idea how to describe how my skin looks.
